Bar Avize is the swanky, Gen-Z sister to the Alpine restaurant Avize in West Midtown. Right outside Ponce City Market, Necessary Purveyor pays homage to both Atlanta and Miami in drink names and flavors. Even the espresso martini gets a Latin nod here — the Dinamita blends aged tequila, cold brew, espresso liqueur, and Mexican cold chocolate for something bold and unexpected. It’s a welcome addition to Atlanta’s growing crop of after hours pop-ups (like Little Tart After Dark), filling the need for a casual, cute spot to grab a fun Friday drink without committing to a full night out.

Find cocktails with specific ingredients, combinations of ingredients, by bartenders, by style, by rating… Cocktails became less popular in the late 1960s and through the 1970s, until resurging in the 1980s with vodka often substituting for the original gin in drinks such as the martini. Honey, fruit juices, and other flavorings served to mask the foul taste of the inferior liquors.

Lettuce Entertain You's bar concept inside the former Hub 51 space. One sip and there’s no doubt that despite everything else going on here, the drinks are the reason to stick around. The space is a former speakeasy, and much of the original decor remains, and the live performances feel right at home amidst the vintage vibe. Our personal favorites are the Korean-style chicken tenders in a sweet-and-spicy glaze and the whipped feta dip.

Be At One Birmingham New Street

Even though this seems like the type of place to grab a beer or margarita, the specialty cocktails are worth a look. The French 75 and espresso martini nevertheless appear to be the most popular drinks outside of the vine. Long a popular bar for locals and tourists alike in Pike Place Market, Radiator Whiskey now has a slightly more laid-back location in Ballard. Taking over the space formerly occupied by Greater Good is a bar that might just have the legs to last.

These timeless tipples can also be enhanced with light appetizers like caviar, black-eyed pea hummus and snow crab cocktail with a house-made Creole honey mustard. Located above S&D Oyster Co. in Uptown, this flashy, design-forward space features candlelit cocktail tables, exposed brick walls, glamorous chandeliers and a cozy fireplace below a mirrored mantel. Located in an underground, speakeasy-style lounge at The Joule, Midnight Rambler takes a unique approach to the art of mixology. While long-time staples like Midnight Rambler and Bowen House have been showcasing the power of mixology for more than a decade, newcomers like Caché and Bar Colette have set a new standard for cocktail connoisseurs.

This chic spot also offers a menu of fun gourmet bites like elevated pizza puffs and king crab cupcakes. The Silom's famed cocktail bar and bistro is now swankier after a major facelift, with a new Modern art-inspired drink menu. Discover the sassiest mojito and the most delicious margarita at these cocktail bars in Bangkok. Whether you’re craving one of Mi Cocina’s famous Mambo Taxis or want to enjoy some of the best people-watching in Highland Park over fresh chips and salsa, Monkey Bar remains one of the sceniest rooftops in Dallas. Club is definitely one of the best cocktail bars in Kansas City. The patio, with its sunken, cozy seating, is my favorite spot to grab a drink. From the team behind the Monarch Bar and The Mercury Room, is a lovely Park Place resident in Leawood. These truly are the best cocktail bars in the Greater Kansas City area. While I have written about many other cities, I would be remiss not to share my favorite spots from my hometown.

To locate this agave haven, spot a neon-red Cheshire Cat at Monument Coffee, then wriggle your way through thick, grey curtains. The kitchen at Tess is fully equipped to whip up favourites like pork jowl linguine and mushroom risotto, so this isn’t where to go if you’re planning to dip after one drink. If you’re even wiser, you’d also order one of the fried chicken stacks, and dare we say they’re even better than Chick-fil-A’s. Located a half-flight of stairs before a pole-dancing studio, Parliament is a self-proclaimed all-American dive bar in a shophouse, sporting retro and music-inspired motifs plus electric red neon lights.
